Dangote Group has announced a major partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to expand the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.<\/p>\n
The project aims to increase the refinery\u2019s processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day (mbpd) by 2028, bringing it closer to becoming one of the world\u2019s largest petroleum complexes.<\/p>\n
Honeywell will provide advanced catalysts, specialised equipment, and process technologies to help the refinery process a wider range of crude grades while improving product quality and operational efficiency. The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between Dangote and Honeywell\u2019s UOP division, which has supplied refining systems, catalyst regeneration units, column trays, and heat exchanger technologies since 2017.<\/p>\n
The partnership also targets growth beyond petroleum refining. Dangote Group plans to scale polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tons annually using Honeywell\u2019s Oleflex technology. Polypropylene is a critical industrial material widely used in packaging, manufacturing, and the automotive sector.<\/p>\n
Dangote is also accelerating its fertiliser expansion program, increasing urea production capacity from 3 million to 9 million metric tons per year. The current facility operates two trains of 1.5 million metric tons each, and the expansion will add four more trains to meet rising demand across Africa and international markets.<\/p>\n
