Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and NNPC Limited are strengthening institutional coordination around Nigeria’s energy sector, with focus on sustaining industry progress and maximising value from strategic national assets.
DEVELOPMENT:
The Chief Executive Officer, Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), Dr. Armstrong Takang, disclosed the engagement after welcoming NNPC Limited Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and his team to MOFI.
Takang described NNPCL as an important component of MOFI’s broader investment portfolio and its mandate to maximise the value of Nigeria’s strategic national assets.
“I was pleased to welcome the Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari (BBO), and his team to the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) for a strategic engagement focused on strengthening coordination and sustaining progress across the energy sector.”
DATA:
No financial or operational performance figures were disclosed in the statement. The engagement focused on areas of shared interest, institutional coordination and alignment with set industry targets.
SIGNIFICANCE:
For investors and stakeholders, the importance of the engagement lies in the relationship between asset ownership, institutional coordination and value creation.
NNPCL is identified as one of MOFI’s portfolio companies, placing the national oil company within the broader framework through which MOFI seeks to maximise returns and value from strategic government assets.
“Our discussions provided an opportunity to review areas of shared interest, deepen institutional coordination and ensure that MOFI and NNPCL remain closely aligned in supporting the achievement of set industry targets, consistent with Mr. President’s agenda.”
NEXT MOVE:
The immediate watchpoint is how the renewed coordination translates into measurable outcomes across NNPCL and the wider energy portfolio. The statement does not specify particular projects, targets, timelines or financial commitments arising from the engagement.
OUR LENS:
The deeper issue is whether closer coordination between MOFI as an asset-management institution and NNPCL as a strategic energy portfolio company can translate into greater economic value from Nigeria’s national assets.
Takang said that the collaboration would continue with a clear value-creation objective.
“We look forward to maintaining this close collaboration as we work together to unlock greater value from Nigeria’s strategic assets and support the delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
